Who We Are
We are unpaid volunteers who live within the Stourdene region of South Warwickshire and who provide first-response medical care within this area in partnership with West Midlands Ambulance Service.
Our history - and the reason for our name - is that the need for a Community First Responder Scheme in Ettington was highlighted by West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) in an advert on local radio in 2008. This advert was heard by one of the founding team members who then contacted the WMAS CFR Coordinator and, after about a year of preparation and fund-raising the Ettington CFR Scheme launched on 1st June 2009.
In the years since launch our scheme has grown to include members based in Armscote, Pillerton Hersey and Pillerton Priors in addition to Ettington - and with this, first-response emergency medical care across the wider Stourdene region including villages and communities surrounding the CFRs' home locations.
We currently have seven operational CFRs, one of whom is also the Scheme Coordinator (a mandated WMAS role). We have four non-responding members in the roles of Chairperson, Communications and Events Officer, Secretary and Treasurer.
We operate a scheme car as shown here.
