Who We Are

Ettington Community First Responder Scheme comprises a small group of volunteers who live in villages in our area of coverage such as Ettington, Pillerton Priors, Pillerton Hersey and Newbold-on-Stour.

The need for a CFR scheme in Ettington was highlighted following an advert by West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) on local radio in 2008 which was heard by one of the founding team members. She contacted the WMAS CFR Coordinator and, after about a year of preparation and fund-raising, the Ettington CFR Scheme launched on 1st June 2009.

We have a number of operational First Responders and other non-responding members who provide vital fundraising and scheme-management support (such as our Treasurer and Secretary).  Currently (February 2010), we have five First Responders based in three different villages with two more undergoing training.

All our First Responders have been trained and examined by WMAS to a nationally-recognised BTEC standard. As with all First Responders, they are re-assessed and re-validated on an annual basis by WMAS. All First Responders are subjected to a CRB check.

All team members are volunteers giving their time to train, be on call and fundraise totally free-of-charge.  Our First Responders also provide the use of their cars to attend incidents and their personal mobile phones (used to communicate with the Ambulance Emergency Operations Centre) free-of-charge.

If you are interested in joining us as a First Responder or purely as a fundraiser, please see "How You Can Help"
